It is always logical and best to start with the basics. This is the stage where they their interest in the game will develop and they’ll start to think and act professionally. Moreover, complete knowledge of the basics of the game will make players not only confident but also more positive about the game.
To teach youth soccer, the first things to do is to do nothing. Let the kids’ act the way they want and observe them keenly. Don’t make huge efforts to systematize things or train too much. In this way, kids will only take pleasure in the sport which is of essence.
Kids should be given regular feedbacks to enable them to work upon themselves. Give these feedbacks only at the end of the session, not during them. When communicating with the kids, make sure you converse in their language which is most important.
Kid’s parents show a lot of conce
in their advancement. That’s why, it’s great to engage them form the beginning. It is beneficial in ensuring that the kids will stay interested in the sport even while at home. Make sure that you understand their queries and answer them appropriately.
Make sure that all channels of communication are used. Using different modes like telephone, emails and personal meetings are good enough to interact with the kids. But let me warn you! To coach youth soccer, exchanging words with other coaches in the field is indispensable. Because every one has valuable experiences and lessons to share, it helps each one of them to take advantage from them.
Plan your drills ahead of time. So it actually calls for all the arrangements to be done in advance. The idea of coping with the kids makes some coaches to adopt an easy attitude. It’s not right. Specialized training and consideration for young players is of equal importance just like in professional game.
Train your kids in the basics of the game in a fun way by involving them in exciting drills. At times, it is also advisable to take them out on excursions and small picnics. Tell them to take this opportunity to exchange their ideas and feelings with each other. It creates a sort of bonding and brotherhood between them.
When you are teaching soccer, discuss the need and value of discipline in soccer. From the beginning itself, make the players understand the value of best practices in soccer.
To conclude, teach the kids soccer in a way that enhances their interest in the game. Use these tips to train your team and the results will surprise you.
