Commitment is a word that can strike fear in the hearts of many people. Whether it’s committing to a long-term obligation like a home mortgage or committing to another person in a relationship, the simple idea of commitment carries a lot of responsibility. I’d like to rhetorically ask you:nn‘How would you rate yourself when it comes to commitment?’
Are you easily motivated to commit to things or is it a constant challenge in your life? If you’re like most people, you probably fall somewhere in between and that’s just fine. I want to show you how commitment to the right things can lead to untold success in your life!
First and foremost, success is a by-product of a solid commitment to yourself. I mean this in the most complete sense too. When you commit to taking good care of yourself (i.e. eating right, exercising, etc.), surrounding yourself with positive people, success will stem forward from just these basic things.
What about the actual commitment to being successful? Do you also think this is important? Let me phrase it in this fashion. Success is rarely easy and that’s exactly why only a small percentage of people ever find true success. That said, what do you think sets successful people apart from those who are always in the process of looking for success like it’s a needle in a haystack?
Underlying many other successful qualities, successful people usually feature a solid commitment to improving themselves and to not accepting failure of any kind. All successful pursuits face their own unique challenges. Someone who is not committed to their own success will see challenges as roadblocks, stopping them from reaching new levels in their lives.
Successful people see things a bit differently. Because they do not accept failure as an option, they see challenges as signs that their efforts need to be modified or redirected to get them where they would like to go. There are no roadblocks in the mind of a successful person; they are merely suggestions for detours that will still take them where they ultimately want to go.
Do you see the difference? The difference lies in the fundamental commitment that successful people make to themselves! At some point, they had to decide that they were no longer going to accept challenges at face value, and thus as potential roadblocks in their lives. They had to commit to themselves that they were going to succeed, no matter what it took and no matter how many detours they had to take to reach their end goals.
Each of us has the same opportunity to make such a commitment to success! Like any commitment, it is a serious thing and it is a commitment that will require some work and determination on your part. The reward for doing so is the success that you’ve always dreamed of so ask yourself, ‘Is the commitment worth what it will bring into your life?’ n
