Confession Of Cheating

Confession is good for the soul. It lifts that weight off your shoulders and gives you a sense of relief. So while you feel great about getting that secret off your chest; you’ve hurt someone else in the process. Usher laid all his cards out on the table in an entire album and made millions of dollars for his confessions, but you are not Usher and your spouse will probably take half of what you have. Women are more likely to confess to a “slip” then men are and they usually end up the one hurt the most. I’m all for honesty and strongly encourage it, but think long and hard before you start revealing all your indiscretions.
Confessing to your spouse or significant other about infidelity will most definitely cause a rift in the relationship and the trust will have to be reestablished. Depending on what the confession is about it could end the relationship. It’s important to know the person you are dealing with and how they will handle the news. If the relationship isn’t important to you then use it as an easy way out. Otherwise I would advise not saying anything. The best kept secrets are kept to yourself. If you are absolutely riddled with guilt and have to tell someone then take it to church and tell your pastor/priest.
Admitting to an infidelity makes you a more honorable and honest person because you decided to come clean about your mistakes and take full responsibility for your actions, but now I can’t trust you. I admire you for your efforts and doing the stand up thing. It does take a lot of courage and guts to do so. However, we now have to decide if this is the relationship you want to be in? Was this a onetime indiscretion you are confessing to or were on the verge of getting caught and decided to come clean? Where do we go from here?
Men don’t forgive and forget easily. When confessing an indiscretion to a man he is not likely to take it well. His ego is bruised beyond anything we can comprehend and he will NEVER forget. When a woman decides to confess cheating on her man she better be ready to end the relationship. If your man doesn’t trust you, assuming that he is still your man, he will be on you like stink on doo-doo every time your phone rings, you go out with your girls, any man looks at you for more tha
2 seconds, or you take too long in the bathroom. He will bring up your indiscretion in arguments for the rest of your life. Most men can’t and won’t handle it. Even now I would never confess to an ex boyfriend that I cheated on him because I don’t want to taint that memory he has of me and what’s the point in confessing now (whether I really cheated or not isn’t important, they all get the same answer). However, if anyone of them chose to ask me that question directly I would be compelled to tell him the truth. I do believe in being honest. So if you ask me a question expect an honest answer; I expect the same in return...
