Consistency Over Time Will Bring Results

I worked for several years as a Sales Executive. The manager of the Sales Department would always stress, Consistency Over Time, Equals Profits. It was such a potent statement that I wrote it down and began to see how it applied to all of life’s goals, not just in the Sales Profession.
I do not know where she learned the potent quote, but the longer I live, the longer I realize the truth of that life-transforming statement. We can change things if we will approach them with the mind-set of working on our goals step by step, by step. A person may desire to get a better job, but may not have the education to fulfill the role. Oh, what should that person do? Suppose they do not even have a GED? Well, the answer is simple. Go and get your GED. This may require you to go back to school, or take evening classes. It may require you to get a tutor.
If your dream of getting that better paying job means that much to you, then make the necessary sacrifices to get where you need to go. But how can I go back to school, you may ask? Well, the first step may be to enroll. So go do that. Then when classes begin, be there. Just take one step at a time. Work at it and be consistent.
Well, what about the desire to develop a positive mental attitude in life? One of the greatest keys to changing our mindsets from negative to positive is to learn the power of affirmations or confessions. Begin to speak positive affirmations to yourself daily. God told Joshua that if he would meditate in His Word day and night, he would observe to do God’s Word and would prosper and be successful (Please see Joshua 1:8, The Holy Bible)
According to James Strong’s Concordance of The Holy Bible, the word meditate means, to mutter or to speak. In other words, to confess or affirm. Speaking the right words, in this case the Word of God would enable Joshua to gain understanding of how to succeed and prosper in his goal and calling to bring the children of Israel into their promised inheritance.
Likewise, speaking positive words consistently to ourselves will have a tremendous and powerful effect on how we think. Just write out several positive statements, place them in the first person, and begin day by day, two or three times a day to say them to yourself over and over again. Be consistent. Over time, you will profit.
In every area of life, learn how to make those little changes which can have monumental effects upon your life for the better. Exercise today. Don’t fret about how you are going to keep it up for a year or two, or a year or two. Just do it today. When tomorrow comes, it will be today again. So exercise today. And just keep at it. Soon a year will come and go and you will have developed a life-changing habit. The key is to be consistent. This is the key to lasting change.
