A landing page is also known as a squeeze page and lead-capture page. The amount of information on the page is usually determined by the cost of the item you are promoting. Free eBooks require much less information than something costing hundreds of dollars.

To be most effective it is essential to use keywords in the headline, title and copy for indexing by search engines. Your goal with a landing page/squeeze page should be for visitors to quickly see what they are looking for. Whether your goal is to get a visitor to click, buy, register for something or tell a friend about your site/services, optimizing your landing pages is key to a successful campaign.

If visitors don’t immediately see what they are looking for, they will likely leave frustrated and will probably never return to your site.

The following will help you to optimize what you are doing.

Set specific goals of what you want to accomplish with the information on the page.
Make sure your headlines are enticing.Provide a clear call to action.Put your most important points at the beginning and the end of the copy.
Include results-driven testimonials.Write with reader in mind. Rather than say: "I will teach you," write: “You will learn.”
The more expensive the product or service you are selling, the more likely it will be that you have to write long, tight copy.

Other recommendations

Find out what your competition is doing. Sign up for their Ezines, tips and other online material so that you will be included in any email campaigns they do and can see what they are sending out.
Keep things simple.
Make sure you have a clear call to action. Use large Buy Now buttons.Don’t give the visitor multiple choices when they land on the page. The only choices you need to give them are to opt in if it’s a free item, buy a paid product or leave the page. Giving too many choices risks losing them to other distractions.

Guidelines for your ebook

If your eBook is FREE be sure this is easy for visitors to see.
Convey ample benefit to the reader. What will the reader learn from your eBook? List anywhere from 3 – 7 benefits on a free eBook.
Make sure to include bullet points since most people —skim the page first, and if the information catches their eye they go back to read in more detail.
Make it easy for people to leave their name and email address. The easier it is the more likely they will be to take action.
Catchy headline and somewhat personalized message. Your headline is one of the most important parts of your landing page. Make sure it stands out, is easy to read and conveys benefit.

Remember, the key to success is to have stellar products and services.
