John heard thunder from the 1st creature in Rev 6:1. The 1st creature is a lion, Rev 4:7. It's the Lion of Judah, Rev 5:5. Thunder is the 'roar' of the Lion, which is an earthquake--Joel 3:16. That's how the end-time "day of the Lord" is initiated--by an earthquake, also seen in Joel 2:10,11 & 1Thess 5:2,3.

God's name is not LORD--that's a title. Translators removed God's name about 7000 times in the Old Testament, replacing it with LORD in all capitol letters, like the 7,000 silent witnesses in Elijah's time what hadn't bowed to Baal. The translation of Baal is "lord" so we have a modern parallel and God wants to be known by His name which is important as Christ's prayer in John 17 supports.

Josephus said the sacred name “consists of four vowels.” Wars of the Jews, Book 5, Chapter 5, Section 7.
Some say those letters are consonants, but a renowned Hebrew textbook says, “Long before the introduction of vowel-signs, it was felt that the main vowel-sounds should be indicated in writing, and so the three letters, yothe, hay, waw, were used to represent long vowels.” A Practical Grammar for Classical Hebrew, Weingreen, Oxford University Press, 1959, p. 7-8. God’s name is spelled yod, hay, waw [vav], hay.

Consonants [like b, d, k, or m] are made by obstruction of air flow. God’s name has no obstruction like our names or characters have. His name and His character are all flow and melody. Vowels are the essential part of any pronounceable word.

We use the vowels of God’s name in every word we speak or write—we wouldn’t have any intelligible words without vowels. God lets us use the vowels of His name in every word we speak. For more information please visit http://GodsName1stSeal.wordpress.com
