Define your fears and face them. Overcome those fears and realize your dreams. Those steps may sound easier said than done but they are true. The fearless win and that has been the case in all endeavors. Whether you are starting a business, making a sales call, deciding whether or not to make a career move; be fearless. Why do you think people climb mountains for sport? They do it because of that feeling they get after. That “feeling” is the feeling of overcoming fear. Once you start and get a sense of what I am referring to life just seems easier.

The struggling starts to dissipate. You become stronger after every battle with fear. Before you know it, you have leveled the playing field with doubt and the mountains you climb become like stones and then eventually pebbles and then granules of sand. It really is that simple.

* That first mountain may be child birth without an epidural.
* It may be leaving a bad relationship.
* It may be asking for that sale from a client you just know wants to throw you out of their office.
* It may be leaving behind friends that keep you in a place you know is not the path you want.
* It may be caring too much what people think.

Whatever your fear, face it with certainty that someone before you already faced that fear and won…and they are sitting where you want to be now. Now go do whatever it takes to be fearless because that really is the only way to get what you really want.

I personally live by the quote from Eleanor Roosevelt:

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience you really stop and look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

I’ll share with you that when I first started in business the image of a leader that I brought with me was an authority figure who has the power to hurt those that are following them. This was because I was so used to being around authority figures who were coming from a place of leading through fear (I came out of the very toxic public school system). I knew I didn’t want that in my business.

Many of my clients share that one of their biggest marketing challenges is actually connecting with enough prospects. They are doing all of this great work in their businesses, but not very many people know about their work; or at least not enough for the flow of business to be moving smoothly and easily. Stop. Start. Stop. Start. Sound familiar? There isn't one perfect way to consistently connect with prospects, but there are many ways that, when used collaboratively, will build you a nice stream of people who are interested in what you do.
