In part 1 of this article, we discussed why people become depressed and how it’s possible to get out of that cycle of depression.

When I say that getting out of it is easy, I really do mean it. The problem is that most people do not try this method of getting out of it, instead they rely upon medications and doctors advice. Although I’m not “knocking” doctors and their opinions, I simply hold a different view of how one can get out of this mental state.

If medications work for everyone, then why are there still depressed people in the world? Could is possibly be that there’s another factor that’s keeping those people where they are?

We’ve already looked at how a depressed person cannot jump from negative thoughts to positive thoughts. Instead, the way to go about this shift in thoughts is to gradually move up the emotional scale.

The idea is to find a thought that feels better than whatever thought you’re feeling right now. So if you feel depressed, look for a thought that is of rage or jealousy because they are emotions that are easier to access to you and they feel better than the depression.

Here’s an example:

“I’m sick of living this crappy life” – Depressed thought – Feels badnn“I HATE EVERYTHING!” – Raged thought – Feels bad, but feels a little bit better than the thought we just hadnn“It’s the governments fault! They won’t even help me” – Blame thought – Although this thought still feels bad, it does feel better than the thought beforenn“I’m worried about going outside, people will talk about me” – Worry thought – Feeling better than our previous thoughtsnn“This is pathetic, they won’t even show up” – Disappointment thought – Feels about the same as the previous thoughtnn“I’m sick of doing this job, it’s so annoying” – Frustration thought – Feels better than beforenn“I’m bored, I’ve got nothing to do” – Boredom thought – Feels better than before

Take a look at where we’ve come. We started from “I’m sick of living this crappy life” and now we’re at “I’m bored, I’ve got nothing to do”. Compare those two thoughts for a moment. Can you see the MASSIVE difference between how they feel?

The common misconception when doing this exercise is that you should be finding thoughts that are happy and blissful. That just isn’t possible for a depressed person. Instead you should focus their attention on finding any thought that feels better you’re your previous thought.

Even if it’s just a slight improvement and feels only slightly better, you’ll actually be making humongous shifts in your overall mood and vibration.

It’s possible that if you worked at this and moved up one emotion per day, that you could be out of depression and feeling positive within 22 days. Here’s the emotional guidance scale as shared to us by Abraham-Hicks:

Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love
Passio

Enthusiasm/Eage
ess/Happiness
Positive Expectation/BeliefnOptimismnHopefulnessnContentmentnBoredomnPessimism
Frustration/Irritation/ImpatiencenOverwhelmentnDisappointmentnDoubtnWorrynBlamenDiscouragementnAnge
Revenge
Hatred/RagenJealousy
Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair/Powerlessness

Starting from wherever you are on that list, make it your intention that you’re going to move up an emotion every single day. Even if you’re depressed and feeling very fearful, make it your intention to feel insecure and guilty, then the next day make it your intention to move up again and feel jealous and hatred.

You’ll be whizzing your way through that list and work your way out of depression once and for good.

Can you remember how you became depressed in the first place? You practiced thoughts that didn’t feel good to you. Now all you’re doing is practicing thoughts that do feel good to you.
