The Need To Find Inner Peace In A Stressful World In these disquieting times when our stress levels are rising along with fuel prices, we may find ourselves feeling off, or imbalanced in some way… disconnected, discontented, disempowered, overwhelmed or confused. The winds of change are buffeting people about and stress-related illnesses are on the rise. In an article for The Guardian, U.K., Jeremy Rifkin writes: “Stress- related diseases – including depression, anxiety, heart disease, strokes, cancer and diabetes are rising so quickly, say some observers, that stress may become the leading cause of disease.” We are in a crisis situation that threatens to escalate, with more and more people resorting to drugs, pornography and violence in an effort to overcome depression, overcome anxiety and confusion and as a way of dealing with stress.
