Some blogs are here today and gone tomorrow. This is because the owners made some very critical mistakes. Below are some mistakes and solutions that you should take notice of in order to avoid failure.
Give Up Too Quickly On Your Blog
Blogs are not an ove
ight money maker. You can't just blog for a month or two and expect to see big results. Many people give up after just 3 blog posts. Blogging is not that easy. Do at least 3 to 6 months of consistent blogging and you should see the results that you desire.
Hard Selling On Your Blog
Nobody is going to visit your blog just to be sold to. There is nothing wrong with making money with your blog, but do not do it at the expense of your readers. It is best to build up a loyal following and then make product suggestions.
Don't Post Often Enough
There is nothing worse than visiting a blog where the last post was 18 months ago. My recommendation is that you post at least once a week to your blog, although 2-3 times a week would be ideal. Stop complaining that you don't have enough time. Just turn off the TV for one hour and just do it.
Talking Too Much About Yourself
Nobody cares what you had for dinner last night or what you did on vacation unless it ties in to what niche you are blogging about. Always make sure that you are providing interesting content that your visitors want to read. Try not to get too personal.
Don't Promote Yourself and Your Blog
You could have the greatest blog in the world but it does not matter is no one is visiting it. Take time to promote your blog online and offline. Take advatage of social media sites and list your blog in Blog Directories and add your RSS feed to Feed Directories. Make sure that you advertise your Blog URL on your business cards also. Join a Blog Carnival.
Starting A Blog On Something That You Are Not Passionate About
Confucious said that if you pick a job that you enjoy that you will never work a day in your life. Blogging should be fun and enjoyable and not burdensome. Make sure that you pick a niche that your are passionate about. If you don't your blogging will begin to be a chore for you and you will eventually stop caring and quit.
Unattractive or Hard to Read Template
Nothing turns readers off more than hard to read blog entries. If your template is unattractive or your font is in a strange and hard to read color, you may run your readers away with them never to return. It is best to choose a clean template with a white background and black letters.
Avoid the above pitfalls and you should have a successful blog!
