There are various SEO technologies which are practiced today through which you can promote your website. Directory submission is one of those off-page SEO technique through which we can gather a huge amount of backlinks. Directory submission is the process of submitting your website’s url to various directory submission sites. We can compare the web directory as a type of phonebook that contains different links to various websites. For the ease of searching there are various categories and sub categories in a web directory. Anyone can put their website’s details in the most appropriate directory category so that the targeted visitors can find your website with the least effort. Now, once a website is listed, most of the websites will link back to your website. It is much easier for a customer to know about your business because your website is listed among the categories which the visitor is searching for. So a maximum of targeted visitors will visit your website. There are two types of the directory submission process. One is done manually, so it is a long and tedious process, Another type of directory submission known as the automated directory submission, is done with the help of a software. The main thing in directory submission is getting back links. The higher number of backlinks you get the higher chances of your website to be in the top positions on the search engines. Directory submission to popular directory sites like DMOZ, Yahoo directory and getting backlinks from them can build a high reputation of your website. While doing a manual submission, you have to keep a list of all the directories to which you are submitting. Submitting to high PR directories are good, because backlinks from them are more important from the search engine’s point of view. The title is a very important thing while submitting a directory. Give appropriate title. Some directories only accept the company name as the title. It is followed by an abridged description. The description should not be over stuffed with keywords or special symbols. It should be a short and meaningful and speak out your business message. As I have said earlier, there is another type of directory submission- the automated directory submission, where a software will automatically post your website to multiple directories. The advantage of this submission process is that it saves a lot of time for the submitter. But it has its equal share of disadvantage. The quality of submission here is much lower in quality as compared to the manual directory submission. Automatically submitted sites in the directories are much less likely to be indexed by the search engines. All the more this software may miss out some important directories. In manual directory submission each and every directory is manually submitted. The quality of submission here is much better than the automated directory submission, but it is a much slower process. Directory submission is one of the easiest SEO technique practiced in the market today. Now-a-days the practice of directory submission by numerous websites is going on in full force in the internet market as more and more websites are competing against each other to attain the highest position in the search engine results..
