Disce ing Signs of the Times from Weather as Christ Implied, Matthew 16:3

Christ criticized the Jews for disce
ing the weather, but not ‘the signs of the times.’ The smiting of the winter house and summer house is linked to bad times, Amos 3. We would do well to pay attention to the context.

God said He would punish Israel’s enemies for 3 or 4 transgressions in Amos 1 & 2, but then said He would also punish Israel & Judah, for 3 or 4 transgressions!

We might wonder what transgressions we have done. For 3 or 4, how aboutrn#1. Kicking God and the Ten Commandments out of classrooms? #2. Supreme Court approval of abortion with the murder of 60 million infants? #3. Supreme Court re-defining marriage for same sex people? #4. The appointment of an ambassador to the Vatican and the invitation to the pope to address US Congress--both of these violate the US Constitution to separate church issues from government .

That’s a cunning strategy to create a problem and then offer the desired solution that originally was forbidden by the Constitution, and now the Constitution is blamed as not working, but it’s because we’ve gone against it for 50+ years.

President John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
