“Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm” ~ Winston Churchill

Why do most businesses fail?

Well if you answered lack of money or clients you'd be right in a way because that's the problem on the surface. Unde
eath that though, the root cause is because they give up. That might sound a little short or obvious. Well yes, if they quit they are bound not to succeed, but think about what that is. Why do people quit?

Basically it's a lack of commitment, it's not being clear with themselves that they will do whatever it takes to succeed. It's not because they don't have the good intentions, it's because they've not made that commitment to themselves that they will stay the course whatever happens. They haven't made a fundamental decision to do whatever it takes.

I don't mean to say here that you can't change your mind about things along the way, and make changes according to what's going on in your business, I mean it's about knowing that you are going to do whatever is right for your business to succeed, whatever comes up.

Here's a quick exercise to check in on your level of commitment to your biz right now. And be very honest with yourself, this only for you, no one else needs to know.

On a scale of 0-10, 10 being the highest, how committed are you to the success of your business right now?

Like I said, be really honest ....... you know how many people you are willing to ask to work with you? How much money you are willing to invest? How much time you are willing to spend marketing your business? How much you are willing to learn ....

If you answer is below an 8, I would strongly encourage you to check into why that is. If you have lost your passion for your business, and you are not willing to go that extra mile, then it's time to crank up the passion or it maybe time to rethink the whole idea.

It maybe as simple as you are in the right business, but trying to sell to the wrong target market, that somewhere along the line you made a decision whether conscious or not, that they were your tribe and now they aren't.

Or it could be as big as this is not what I want to be doing with my time and I hate it, but I have to do it. Or it could be that you are passionate about what you do, but you hate the selling part of it.

Whatever it is, get really clear on it and make a decision to either get committed to that part of it too, or not. Because the longer you keep kidding yourself that you are making a go of it without the commitment to doing whatever it takes, the more time and energy you are wasting.

Some people are just not cut out for business, and that's OK. Running a business is not likened to “taking a personal development course on steroids” for no reason! Running your own successful business can be a huge challenge.

The most important point here, is that you find YOUR clarity and be honest with yourself. Get really clear whether you are in or you are out, and that way you KNOW success is yours.
