Binge eating has been said to be one of the most widespread of all eating disorder, affecting 1 in 35 people, much more common that any of the other eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. The main problem with trying to stop binge eating is that many of those who are suffering are ashamed to talk about it and ask for help. Remember that you are not alone in this and there is real help available if you want to get binge eating help and permanent recovery.
Get rid off the obsession drivers
There are some key things that drive the desire to binge and they are called obsession drivers and should be avoided. This can be different for everyone, but the most common ones are diet obsession, obsession with scales, reading too many weight loss blogs and magazines and general preoccupation with food and weight loss.
Other obsession drivers may include stressful situations and it is important for your binge eating recovery to learn to manage stress and cope with it without turning to food. Often a good therapist or support group can help with this.
Avoid food talk
Talking about food and weight loss is another way that the desire to act out is increased and it prevents you from being to stop binge eating permanently. The more focus that there is on diets, food and weight loss, the more you will find yourself triggered. This is the case even if it is about healthy food and weight loss plans.
Spend time in the solutio
In order to stop binge eating and find lasting recovery you need to practice staying in the solution. This disorder can create negative thinking and perpetuate thoughts of never being able to get binge eating help. This is not true. Keep focused on the solution and defeat any negative thoughts with positive actions like reaching out and asking for help, seeing a therapist, meditation, talking to you support network about what is going or and journal writing.
Create a support network
It is essential for anyone considering binge eating treatments to create a strong and supportive network of people to share with. You can find groups online, ask a therapist for a recommendation or find someone who has been through the problem and has found a recovery solution that works. Always make sure that you support network is positive and pro recovery. Avoid anything that is triggering.
