If the numbers are correct and 37% of the image you project is the sound of your speaking voice, then without a doubt, having a hot, sexy voice that exudes warmth and sensuality is a turn-on. For both men and women, deeper voices are much more attractive to the listeners’ ears than a high-pitch, whiny, nasal, reedy, or wimpy sound.
If you look at the voices used to portray sensuality in Hollywood, two of the biggest stars are Kathleen Turner and George Clooney. Other voices that display this quality are Julia Ormond, Sean Connery, and Ashley Judd.
You have a better voice inside which I refer to as your ‘real’ voice. It is deeper in pitch and resonant because it vibrates in your chest. For all of the actors mentioned earlier, when they talk, they use their chest cavity as their primary sounding board. By placing the voice in this manner, it takes on a warmer, richer, deeper quality. And, given the right tone and color, a resonant voice can be very, very seductive.
If you are not using your chest cavity in the production of voiced sound, however, then you are relying on your other 4 resonators to speak. When the voice is being powered by only 4 of your 5 resonators – the voice box, throat, mouth and nose – then the resulting sound is higher in pitch, thinner in quality, and possibly young-sounding. None of those traits instill confidence or sensuality. Unless the chest is involved in the process, your voice will never achieve the qualities that you hear in the voices of James Earl Jones, Cher, Vin Diesel, Peter Coyote, Diane Sawyer, and Kate Beckinsale.
If you would like a hot voice which complements your physical image, then you must learn to breathe with the support of your diaphragm, find the optimum pitch of your speaking voice, and power your sound by means of your chest cavity. If you are in doubt, consider the size of your chest cavity in comparison to your other 4 resonators: it is in that size alone that your voice can take on a whole new sound.
A warm, sensuous voice captivates the listener’s ear. Imagine being able to capture the attention of someone to whom you are attracted just by addressing him or her with a voice that exudes sensuality. Make the change and you will discover just how much a hot, sexy voice does matter!
