Aloha!

Those who identify as being on a spiritual path most frequently embrace the concept that yes, everything happens for a reason. True, however what’s often left out of that paradigm is that it doesn’t mean every single occurrence holds a deep meaning. Sometimes the reason is simply that you made a poor choice. In that case, it’s most productive to stop looking for hidden meaning and rest in the knowledge that you’ll be better informed next time. So you’re not perfect. Who is? You’ve grown and matured. Move forward with that knowledge instead of assuming the yogic, “Foot up Butt” asana. We’re all human. Cut yourself some slack.

Yes, “too much analysis leads to paralysis,” so repeatedly processing the same thing looking for something juicy when there is no depth impedes rather than stimulates insight. Connecting more with others as well as participating in activities that you enjoy serves to shift your energy and shake off the stagnation.

Those who identify as spiritual tend to be self-critical, even to the point of self-abuse at times. Take care how you treat yourself! There’s enough negativity in the world without inflicting punishment on your own precious self from within! Enlighten up! You messed up? So what? Celebrate yourself! Unless you’re a neurosurgeon in the operating room or a helicopter pilot flying in high winds, chances are the results weren’t that big a deal for anyone involved, no matter who is reacting or creating drama. Haven’t you seen that happen before? Wasn’t the drama temporary then? It’s temporary now, too!

Take responsibility for your own choices – including the choice to stop belittling yourself with such a narrow focus when you mess up. Expand your perspective. Go ahead – try it! Those with whom I’ve worked have heard this technique: Take a deep breath. Right now! Breathe. All the way down past your navel. Throw your shoulders back and stick your chest out to open up your heart energy – for yourself. Embrace all the nurturing love in the air around you. You deserve it!

Miracles and blessings,

My mother died suddenly October 20, 1987, at the age of 67 from a heart attack. Earlier that year she had told me about health problems she had experienced, and I told her that I believed she had suffered a heart attack and needed to see a medical doctor. “No,” she said, “They’ll just pick on my weight and I just don’t want to stop eating because it’s the only thing that makes me happy.” I knew that my mother was a very unhappy person, and I couldn’t argue with what she had stated. She had expressed for several years that she really wanted to die because she was so unhappy.

Self awareness is the first step in becoming aware of your own psychic ability. This however means so much more than just acknowledging that you exist, or that 'it' exists. The first step then is to become aware, to notice 'on purpose' what things you already are feeling and sensing. To become aware of the unfamiliar,
