Does Reiki Really Work?

Does Reiki really work? Usually you just have to ask the person that has received a Reiki treatment if it works or not. Of course, "works" is a subjective term in some cases. If someone receiving a treatment has nothing wrong with them, they still will receive benefit from the treatment. Reiki helps the person get to a deeply relaxed state in a short period of time. In fact, a 15 minute treatment is equal to an hour's nap. A typical response from one at the end of Reiki treatment is "That was amazing!" The recipient usually feels very refreshed and revitalized, just after a short session.

Reiki does accelerate the body's own healing response, in much the same way as a car would receive benefit getting a jump start from another vehicle. We call the Reiki practitioner the "cosmic jumper cables", in that they are channeling life force energy through their body and out their hands, thus adding more healing energy to the healing energy already existing in the one receiving Reiki.

Also, Reiki continues to work 24-48 hours after the session. If the person does not experience "healing", then it may come a bit later. Reik works only as well as the person is open to receive the energy. We've seen very rapid healing in some cases and in other cases it has taken longer. If a Reiki practitioner can work on someone who has just experienced an injury, the enery will work quickly to help heal it. Longstanding conditions sometimes take more sessions to effect a change. In any event, Reiki is a wonderful tool anyone can learn to help others and themselves relieve pain and suffering and thus promote a greater quality of life.
