There is a way to live the dream we carry in our hearts. The way we achieve our goal is through proper goal setting. These goals may be personal goals, professional goals or both.
You are far above the crowd if you
1. Made a decision to follow your passion
2. Know what you want and why you want it
3. Have set the goal realistically
4. Made a decision to take daily actio
There a numerous reasons why people follow a particular course. Many people may decide what to do based on viewing how it has worked for others. Some have been told they are good at a specific task. But if there is an understanding that living your dream is connected to following your passion, the alarm clock will just seem like another chance to wake up and do what you love.
There is nothing that adds more joy and excitement than rising out of bed daily to enjoy the work you do. To add to that, follow-up with taking a long look at what you want and be willing to dig a little deeper to know why you want it. This is the fuel that keeps the passion going. The “what and the why” has the ability to carry the dream in the midst of disappointments.
Be assured, disappointments, slow times and other non-favorable moments will happen. But that is eased when you take the time not only to dream big but gain the wisdom and experience to keep your goals set in a realistic realm. I know this example is far-fetched but no matter how much I dream, know what I want and why I want it, I will never be an actual glass of water. It’s not going to happen.
We can make some things happen though and we have the power to do it when we take daily action. It does not have to be the hardest nor the biggest step of the day but just taking one step, one action a day toward your goal. Making the decision to move forward daily will guarantee a place on the top.
There is another piece which completes this puzzle and that is having a specific goal strategy. In order to achieve a dream, there must be a detailed structure in place. There is often more than one goal set to realize a dream, there are a lot of goals with sometimes multiple objectives. Each goal needs a specific strategy. There are several ways to create a goal strategy but the steps and the questions are basically the same.
The first step is to solidify the “who” of the goal. Who will it reach? Who will it help? Who will be your partners, mentor, coach or supporters?
The second step is the “what” of the goal. What is the end result? What type of energy will be spent in reaching this goal? What objectives will be used to reach the goal?
The third step is the “when” of the goal. When would you like this particular goal to be achieved? When will it be time to add the other objectives to the goal?
These few steps may sound really simple but they are indeed the foundational steps needed in a goal strategy to achieve your dream.
