Researches have shown that tea is a great functional food product for the management of weight.
According to a report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, more than half of adult Australians are overweight and many young children are heading in the same direction. Obesity has become both an image and health issue.
It has been established that tea is effective in reducing body fat composition through various different means, but generally in two main ways: increasing rate of burning body fat and reducing future formation of fats.
Teas can be divided into two main families: herbal teas made from all parts of other plants and conventional tea made of 'Camellia Sinensis' leaves. Most contemporary researches are with respect to studying teas made of 'Camellia Sinensis' leaves. Examples of such teas are green tea, Oolong tea and black tea.
To combat obesity issues, we see many people taking up tea drinking. Some achieve much better results than others. Here are a few challenges, but these may be helpful in achieving a lasting result.
First of all, tea is simply a beverage, not a medicine. It regulates body fat deposit and oxidization through regular consumption. Its effect is moderate, but lasting. There are many fast weight loss programs claiming to produce weight loss immediately without any effort. They all sound too good to be true, and is usually the case. Tea can help you lose weight, but without some effort on your part in having a more active lifestyle, you will also not be able to lose weight effectively.
Next, tea consumption should not be the only change to your diet if you wish to burn fats. For instance, people should gradually replace their sugar rich beverage with tea; drinking tea without sugar nor milk to maximize the benefits for weight reduction. Relying on tea alone but retaining an unhealthy life style full of snacking on oily and deep-fried foods is bound to lead to disappointment in terms of weight loss.
Lastly, do not worry about which tea is the best one for weight loss. There are six main categories of Chinese teas with weight-reducing effects. The best advice is to simply find the type of tea(s) you enjoy drinking the most and make it part of your daily life. The health benefits of long term tea consumption, including weight loss, are far greater than drinking the 'best' tea but only for a week.
