When one first starts a business, the scale is usually small, which means most processes get executed and completed manually by just a handful of employees. However, when the company eventually grows, so does its needs and the various methods that make up its daily operations. The bigger the scale of services, the more compelling the need for a solution to facilitate a more organized approach for addressing a broad range of issues and challenges that are likely to arise. It is where Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) solutions come in. Unfortunately, the sheer number of options on the market in this context can make it overwhelmingly hard to pick one solution for your organization. So, it is always a great idea to start with the behemoths, which, in this case, are Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Oracle. Why most people advise that you start with established names is because besides offering high-quality products, there’s also inherent trust. Here’s a quick comparison between Oracle and Dynamics 365 to help you gauge which one is better suited for you.
  1. Features: In the context of functions, Dynamics 365 organizes its functionalities into individual apps. Its key features can be accessed via the Finance and Operations app, with the remaining available via the supplementary apps. Oracle too divides its functionalities albeit across separate clouds, such as Financials Cloud, Accounting Hub Cloud, and Risk Management Cloud among others.
  2. Time is taken to implement: While there are a variety of factors that impact the time it takes to implement a solution, the fact remains that this figure plays a crucial role in the eventual decision. Research has shown that the implementation projects of both Oracle, as well as Microsoft Dynamics 365, tend to overshoot their respective estimates by an average of 15 percent.
  3. Pricing: Based on the functionalities you need, you can access Microsoft Dynamics 365 via two plans: Dynamics 365 Plan and Unified Operations Plan. So you get two kinds of licenses and tiered pricing strategy. Now, on to Oracle; unfortunately, things aren’t quite as simple with this one’s ERP solution. It is because a lot of the private clouds that we mentioned above are further divided into separate services and functionalities. Moreover, each of them is then individually priced.
  4. General pros: rna. Both these options have their fan bases and rightly so! However, which one of these two works the best for you will eventually be decided by factors such as the company’s needs, demands, and more. So no matter what you choose to opt for eventually, be it Dynamics 365 development or Oracle, be sure to find yourself a trusted vendor before kicking off the project.
