Individuals interested in hiring East Bay, Livermore and Pleasanton exterior painting contractors, will find that there are enough of them that they will have a choice regarding who paints their home, property or place of business. When shopping for an exterior painting contractor, like Custom Painting, Inc., it is important to ask a few questions. A failure to do so can result in problems down the line. It is best to ask the tough questions early so that no issues arise later. Below are several questions property owners should ask East Bay, Livermore and Pleasanton exterior painting contractors (or any contractors for that matter) before hiring them.
1. Are you licensed and insured?
This is a very important question. A painting contractor that is not licensed and insured puts you and your wallet at risk. If something goes wrong and they refuse to cover it because they don’t have the money or insurance to do so, you as the property owner will have to take care of the costs. This is obviously the last thing that you will want to do. To avoid doing so, only work with painting contractors that are licensed and insured.
2. How much experience do you have?
If you feel like giving a new painting contractor a chance, that’s fine, go for it. That is totally up to you. Some people won’t. They would rather their painter have at least some experience. Ask how long the painting contractor you are considering has been painting before hiring them to be sure that you are fine with that amount of experience.
3. May I see your portfolio?
It is always great to see samples of a contractor’s work before hiring them. This will allow you to see whether or not it is “up to snuff.” If it is not, you will want to keep looking. If the contractor doesn’t have a portfolio ask to for the addresses of a few of the houses they’ve painted and then drive by. You can also ask for a list of references that you can call.
4. How much will this job costs? Will that figure change?
It is important to talk about money upfront. You won’t want any surprises half-way through the job. Be sure to ask whether the estimate they give you at the start of the job can or will change. This will be very important to know.
5. How long will this job take?
Ask the contractor how long they estimate the job will take. Most people will want to get the painting contractor in and out as quickly as possible without the quality of the work being compromised.
Before hiring East Bay, Livermore and Pleasanton exterior painting contractors you will want to be sure to ask the above questions. You will be glad that you did.
