Golden Gate Bridge: this is a tourist attraction that links the Marin County and San Francisco, this bridge endures about 100,000 cars every day. The bridge is over a mile long and it was built to withstand blowing winds of more than 100 miles per hour by swinging about 27 feet at its center. To see the bridge, the easiest viewpoint is from the Fisherman's Wharf.
Fisherman's Wharf: Again one of the top tourist destination known for its restaurants, museums and shops. One can spend some time exploring ‘necks of the Woods’. Some museums of interest are Treasure Island Museum, City of San Francisco Museum and ‘Ripley's Believe It or Not’ museum. The Underwater World is a superb aquarium build with 700, 000 gallons of water. Visitors can explore the aquatic life through transparent glass tunnel.
Chinatown: Another superb tourist attraction, get the bus number 45 from Market and 3rd Sts. down. Enter from Dragon's Gate (the south entrance) into the Grant Avenue. With up-turned roofs and dragon lamp posts you can see shops selling everything like kites to utensils. You should check out the Cantonese wood carvings on Kong Chow Temple and the Fortune Cookie Factory.
Alcatraz Island: It was once a maximum security Federal Penitentiary but now a part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The ferry can take you to the island, landing at the only pier which serves the steep-sided island.
Lombard Street: It descends form the east side of the Russian Hill and originally too steep for cars to drive on, banked at a natural incline of 27 degrees. During the year of 1920s a section of it was revamped by adding eight curves. Today this is called as ‘The Crookedest Street in the World’! Automobiles can drive downhill at the speed of 8km/h only, while pedestrians can make use of the steps. Beautifully cut hedges with flowers will make it pleasant to walk and the view from the summit is astonishing.
California Academy of Sciences is a cultural attraction, located in Golden Gate Park betwee
Shakespeare Garden and the Aquarium; it holds the Morrison Planetarium, a gem and mineral hall and Steinhart Aquarium. You can experience the strength and movement of earth tremors and it also has an African Hall with realistic models of African animals.
Nob Hill: this is a natural attraction which is the highest summit of SF, rising to 103 meters above the sea and from where you will have a spectacular view of SF city. It is considered to be the most elite place in San Francisco. The Cable Car Museum is on the way from Nob Hill to Russian Hill that depicts the cable car's 121 years of history.
Lafayette Park: again a natural attraction which is one of the city's moat loveliest hilltop gardens, this park is filled with eucalyptus tress which is also a leafy green haven of pine. Previously it was used by squatters and there are still some more houses dating back to the year 1936 which were originally constructed by squatters.
