The Elguea Spa is in the north coast of Villa Clara, to 11 kilometers of Corralillo, 100 kilometers of Varadero, 120 kilometers of Santa Clara and 180 kilometers of Havana City and it is known around the world for the uniqueness of its waters. In 1890 Don José Manuel Elguea Guillén, son of this marriage, built a house near the springs that functioned as a hotel for those who visited the springs during the year. At the beginning of the XX century the spa became more popular, the clientele grew and the business became more prosperous. Later the property was sold to the Linares family, of which Miss Waldina descended and who married Guillermo Elguea, son of Don José Manuel, so in this way the family business was kept.nnIn 1917 a new stage began in the exploitation of the thermal waters of Elguea. Guillermo and Waldina carried out a remodeling of the hotel, the guano leaves were changed by tiles, and cabins were built. They improved the access roads, that that later facilitated the transfer of the visitors in automobile from Corralillo to Elguea. In the decade of the 40´s other springs were discovered and this fact brought remarkable improvements to the hotel, although the place still lacked electric current and when happening the death of Guillermo Elguea, the benefit of the service decayed and it decreased to two or three months during the summer time.
