For some reaso I’ve been thinking about the notion of “embodiment” lately. Some of this is from the walks in the woods…which propelled me to blog to begin with. The moment I enter the woods, at Steer Swamp in Marblehead…the trees enfold me. The leaves below cushion me. The branches beside me embrace me. I’ve become part of their community. A guest…more than a visitor. An observer, appreciator. What comes to mind when I visit the woods is the zen koan that goes something like…if there is no one in the woods to hear a tree fall, does the tree make noise? I’ve also heard notion about a flower, for example, which does not understand its beauty until it is witnessed. It brings up our relationship with the earth…are we witness? Observer? Creator? Harmonizer? So what do I want to say about embodiment? My last walk in the woods, today, was sensual. I saw how the woods became a symbol of embodiment. Leaves and the way they unfurled and touched each other, like sweet surrender. Tree bark and its curvy lines flowing and touching and growing apart and touching again. Some branches wrapped in tantric ecstasy around other branches…no spaces in between. It brings up those times when I’ve been so in love and in lovemaking I wanted the skin to disappear so union between us could truly exist in this dimension. What else comes to mind is the poetry of Rumi: The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere, they're in each other all along. From Essential Rumi by Coleman Barks When fully embodied, our divine Self is in us…fully felt, fully here, fully one with our being. Not something we want to connect with, but the connection itself. Not something we reach for, but something within us…IS us. When I feel full…complete…I want for nothing. It’s because what I call Spirit is fully within me. I’ve been a Kriya Meditation teacher for a bunch of years...the greatest blessing I can name. I guide people to bring light into their body. The Light is also energy…divine love. A divine embrace. When we pull this energy/light/love into the body it becomes one with us. Then there is no light to love, no love outside of ourselves to reach for. We are that. We are the love we seek, the light we crave, the completeness we yearn for. It’s a high state of consciousness, yet a consciousness available to us so easily, just by opening up to it. Music is tantric for me. Some of you know I’m in a sound healing trio called Mystic Sound. I witness our cello player, Clarence Dow. When he plays/loves his cello, he is one with it. I know by looking at him there is no separation. He blends with the music he creates. I watch Dave Estes, who plays didgeridoos that he also builds, and I see so clearly there is nothing else in his awareness but fulfilling his mission of creating a sound vibration that heals. He's in another place, yet he is here with us. When I play my crystal bowls with Clarence and Dave, any notion of a “Judy” is gone. My brainwaves connect with them…with the only intention of blending, being in Oneness, so that anyone listening will feel/sense/become the same thing…one with the All that is. This is what draws me to the woods, to meditation and to creating sound. Also to energy healing, which is my favorite thing to do, the core of my work and my heart of service. Energy healing, when done with a pure intention to give fully to the healing of another being, is an embodiment. The practitioner pulls it in, offers it out as a flow of healing light/energy/love/vibrational force, and the receiver receives a healing. Higher energy comes into the body, and that energy releases what is ready to go…what no longer serves the person. Two things cannot occupy the same space in this dimension. Higher energy escorts lower energy out. It’s a transmutation. Lower energy goes to the Light. Light takes its place. It’s a new embodiment of sacred energy/light/divine love. How beautiful is that? As ”healer” I am not the healer…but the observer, appreciator, harmonizer, witness. Like when I walk through the woods and appreciate the leaves and the branches and the trees which embrace, I am witness. God/Goddess/Source made the trees. God/Goddess/Source heals. We serve the Light in many ways. We are energy beings, and when we embody high energy we are the Source, the Light, the Divine Love that creates. Go to the mirror. Look in your eyes, deeply. You are God, the creative force on earth, the cause of your personal and planetary evolution and awakening. See yourself as this embodiment, this container for the Divine. Blessed be!
