Emotional Intelligence And How To Affect Positive Leadership Styles
Written by Greg Frost
Leadership is an important attribute for any business setup as it determines how a company performs. There are several leadership traits that accompany a good leader; leadership traits can never be successful without emotional intelligence. Listed hereunder are some of the most influential leadership styles a leader can practice in order to attain good results.
The Authoritarian leadership
In the authoritarian leadership decisions are only made by the top leader. The staff in this case carries out duties as directed by the leader in charge. Leaders are in charge of everything that should be done and employees are required to get authorization for everything before they can even attempt to carry it out. This method may not be as effective especially if you have qualified employees, who can come up with strong strategies to work around a given task. Authoritarian kind of leadership can only work where the leader is the one who knows everything that should be done in the organization and the employees learn from him. This kind of leadership is dictatorial and can be very straining, in this kind of leadership the leader is help responsible for any action within the people he leads.
Democratic Leadership
A democratic leadership style is among the best leadership styles available. In this kind of leadership, everyone in the organization has a say when it comes to idea generation. The leaders in this set up will work together with the staff and listen to their ideas. They agree on some issues to make a final decision. The staff feels really useful in this kind leadership setup that’s why most it’s listed among the best leadership styles, in this setting employees get to grow and gain good experience as they are part of every process. Given a case scenario, the employee and the leader are responsible for their actions as they are all allowed to make decisions. Unlike on the authoritarian where the employees will have to wait for the leader to make a decision.
Delegate leadership
This one involves a leader passing out his responsibilities to his employees. The employee will enjoy temporary Authority and as much as they are responsible for decision making the leader is the one who will be held responsible for everything that happens. Good leaders will only use this method from time to time but they are usually advised not to take advantage of the employees. Some poor leaders will always delegate responsibilities and the staff will never get a chance to get recognition for their hard work. This type of leadership should have ways of making the employees get recognition for their hard work.
In order to create balance in each of this three leadership styles then a leader should know specific acts of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is very important a leader sensitive in it will always find a way to approach employees with different personality dynamics. There are quite a number of leadership trainings which can help a leader have some of the best leadership traits.
