Empowerment Through Reiki

The word empowerment is often misconstrued and misunderstood. Many people believe that having power is bad, frightening, or being empowered will keep them separated from others.

Many of us give our power away to other people. It happens all the time. It may be your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, boss, co-worker, parents or your children. Maybe we think that they know more than we do or that they know what’s best for us. Maybe we don’t want to be in conflict, so we give in and go along. Maybe we’re in a power struggle with someone. These are all ways of giving your power away.

No one can take our power unless we allow it. Many times, we allow it out of fear of rejection, abandonment, or not being loved. For example, if you are always trying to please people, you are letting them take your power. You act the way you believe they want you to act, you say what you believe they want to hear, and you become who you believe they want you to be.

Energetically, you are allowing them to control you and take your energy. Many times this happens in the stomach area, the solar plexus chakra. You may feel drained, and scattered.

It is important to be aware when you are letting someone take your energy. It creates an imbalance between you and the other person. It can create a cord of energy called an etheric cord. Ask the angels to cut the cords and take back your power. Then look at yourself and see what allowed you to give your power away.

Like energy always attracts like energy. There is always a similar energy between you and the other person. Maybe it is anger, or guilt or fear. As you heal this in yourself, you will be able to keep your energy and not allow others to take it. There will be no similar energy for them to attach to. The more you heal yourself, the more empowered you are.
