Enlarged heart symptoms could be associated with cardiomyopathy chest pain or other heart disease.
There are a number of Symptoms that could indicate an Enlarged Heart. While some of these signs could be attributed to other conditions they should never be ignored. It is important for you to recognize these signs of a heart condition so that you can alert your doctor and discuss your conce
s.
Heart problems can occur at any time of your life, but these types of ailments are much more common in people who are 40 years or age, or older. Cardiomyopathy is the medical term used to describe a heart that has become enlarged.
In some instances cardiomyopathy is the result of an illness or genetic history. This condition can also occur when the heart has been damaged because of underlying physical conditions such as hypertension, lung disease or heart attacks.
If you have any indication of Enlarged Heart Symptoms consult your doctor.
Although you may have had a medical check-up recently this type of heart problem could go undetected unless a physician is particularly conce
ed about the possibility of cardiomyopathy. Even with a regular heart rhythm you could be suffering from heart enlargement and not even realize it.
Only medical diagnostic procedures such as a chest X-ray, an echocardiogram, ultra-sound or cardiac catheterization can definitely show whether your heart is abnormally larger than normal. Even then it is up to the doctor to determine how severe this condition is and create a treatment plan that will help you remain as healthy and active as possible.
While many people believe that only severe medical Symptoms are cause for alarm, the truth is that cardiomyopathy may produce few physical complaints until this problem has become very severe. Often these physical signs and Symptoms are ignored or overlooked until they become so pronounced that the condition is impossible to ignore.
Being able to identify any potential heart problem as quickly as possible is the best way to get the treatment that could save your life.
Here are the most common complaints that are associated with cardiomyopathy (an Enlarged Heart).
Enlarged Heart Symptoms:
Feeling dizzy or ‘light-headed'
Trouble breathing
Being short of breath, especially when no physical exertion is involved
Irregular heart rhythm
Chest pai
Non-productive cough
Swelling in the feet or legs
While it is a nice compliment to be told that you have a ‘big heart' it is not good to learn that you have a heart that has become physically larger than normal.
A person with cardiomyopathy has poor muscle tone in their heart which means that this vital organ is unable to pump the blood in an efficient manner. This creates a back-up of blood and fluid in the pulmonary system. This imbalance results in lung problems, shortness of breath and edema (or swelling).
If you have noted one or more of the Symptoms that are listed you should make an appointment with your health provider and discuss the possibility of cardiomyopathy. Remember that the sooner you seek appropriate treatment the better chance you have of leading as normal a life as possible.
