Entrepreneurs Need To Work On?

When working with entrepreneurs and small business owners I see a drive and passion that is necessary for success. There are eight areas where consistent actions are needed to produce consistent results. As you develop and grow, the actions change because of your accomplishments and your business needs evolve. The one action, for those in startup mode or are in steady mode, not growth mode most often overlooked is the action to celebrate. Surprised?
It’s easy to celebrate when there is growth (success). Naturally, we feel deserving. When done right this builds a loyal customer base, opens doors for new business relationships, and just plain feels good. It magically comes to the frontal lobe of our minds.
However, this trait is also needed when in startup mode where the sweat equity is greatest and during steady mode because it serves as fuel to keep us striving. The problem is we are looking for the big success to celebrate. It’s not there. That’s exactly why you need to celebrate small successes especially if you’re a single owner business. Because you work intelligently hard there has to be a reward. Our being needs to be rewarded to know this is worth our time and money.
For those who do celebrate small successes sometime their form of celebration needs adjusting. For example, going out to eat, and trying to put your time into silos doesn’t work. Why? Because going out to eat is something you can easily do anytime and by putting your time into silos you inhibit the creativity and spontaneity a business owner needs to succeed. There should be smooth transitions in your business not silos.
Then, what forms of celebrations work? That depends on you since there are a myriad of ways to celebrate. Here are a few:
1. Take a drive to the mountains and walk the trail
2. Play with the children by doing something new (it’s rejuvenating)
3. Take a mini vacation where you visit someone or interact with new people
4. Take a tennis lesson
5. Attend a festival or event to interact with people you know
6. Achieve a new work out goal (you already know it will happen because you deserve it). When the goal was first set, I’m sure it was hard to do because you had things to learn and work to do to achieve it. Now, you’ve done it. Celebrate by telling someone.
It’s not done for a business purpose however business may come from doing so.
Most businesses fail because in the eight areas for entrepreneurial success actions aren’t being taken consistently. The one most often not taken is to celebrate. It doesn’t need to be something big just something that feels good. This avoids burnout and you’ll look and feel fresh and come across as having a confident mindset when doing business. It’s healthy for you and worth your time and money.
