From the Prologue of : Meditations In My Favourite Places In Southern Africa. by Gail Evans.

So ........ you have arrived in this Africa, in this love of mine my friend. Welcome home. Oh? You do not think that this is your home? Did you say that you are just a traveller here? Ummm, I wonder...... This is where humanity originated thousands of years ago. This is your motherland where the rocks that lie beneath your feet are the firstbo
of her womb and her palpitating rivers and pounding waterfalls are her first rush of life.

How long has it been since you left her embrace, to wonder across deserts and oceans and plains? How many tribes and nations have you spawned and raised, how many adventures are written across your face?

Keep still now. Can you feel it? Your heart? Can you feel the rhythm beating in your chest? Is it not the same as when the love
returns? As when the child raises its arms and kisses your cheek? As a long lost friend calling you on the phone?

Hush now and remove the shoes from your feet. You will have no need of them here. Free feet feel. Feel the soil. Feel the beat. Feel the beat in your heart and in your feet. And in time you too will dance like a joyous child. Welcome home!
