Here’s how - without any instructions - you find your meanings of any deck of Tarot cards if it pictures scenes of social situations.
*Make a list of questions you know the answers to. The question should be something you are sure of because your answer is the unknown in the equation.
*Think of that subject as you choose three or four of your Tarot cards. The fourth card can be on a second tier over the middle of the other three.
*Relax and take your time. Look carefully at the illustrations, and connect them, relate them, to the issue you had in mind when you chose those cards. Take your time. (Have some wine.)
Brains are structured to make sense of what eyes see. Chances are, your gray matter (because you asked it to) will find a correlation between what you are thinking of and the illustrations. It may be just an inkling: That counts.
If a connection does not occur, despair not: This happens even to professional Tarot readers. Pick 'em up and repeat the process as many times as it takes. And, with a Tarot deck that is new to you, don't expect to excel for a while.
*When you do deduce intelligence from your spread, enter that spread in your Tarot Meaning Notebook. The notebook is important. Enter on the left page of the book the name of the cards in the pattern you laid them. Enter what you see them mean, identifying which ones made which part of the meaning. If there are two together that joined to make a phrase, make note of that.
On the right side of the book, if you have got some idea that you think did not come from your illustrations, write that down. When you review, maybe months from now, you may find gems there.
*Are you familiar with another Tarot deck? (There are hundreds at least of Tarot decks out there.) If you are, lay the same configuration of its cards while you are doing the initial concentrating-on-the-question part, and interpret them along with the new deck. The information in that deck's response should be at least similar to the new deck's commentary. It is something to go by.
*Rider Waite is the standard deck in the U. S. That's a good one to begin with, if you have no preference. Marseilles deck is common for France and for many in Hispanic cultures.
*Your notebook will grow. You may make lists of the individual cards' meanings after you have done a number of layouts. You can develop a system.
*If you persist deeply into this project, you will discover new perspectives in 'real life.' You will discover fresh levels of your skills at reading your deck too. You will also discover facts and predictions that are true: Try not to be amazed or spooked. Your subconscious knows stuff you don't, and that's a fact, and you are accessing it.
*If you persist at asking questions about your own personal life, you will discover more about who you are, who others in your life are, and what is going on. These discoveries snowball into spiritual growth and personal development.
*You will develop insight into life situations through the study of Tarot because your subconscious, where the insight is, relates to pictures; and you are connecting pictures to information that is conscious. Tarot becomes a bridge to your higher self that way, to your higher thinking that way, especially when your sessions are extended enough to call forth your reflexive mind - the part that knows how to button your shirt without you telling it.
*You will end up with a system of interpretation of Tarot that works, that is based on solid personal experience, rather than on a book ... because most of the books are fanciful. Most people who write them are like most people who use Tarot: They get information from spirit guides and casually relate that information to some parts of a few of the cards. That is not what we refer to when we say 'reading Tarot cards': We mean reading them.
