Factors causing hair loss during pregnancy

On an average, it is seen that we lose approximately 50 to 100 hairs on regular basis. This happens due to the pollutants present in the air, stress, certain medications & factors causing diseases. The stage of pregnancy has an impact on the entire body where skin, hair & nails are the areas that are more prone to be affected. Sometimes, there are some unpleasant effects that are introduced during pregnancy which often make them worried. It’s said that hair loss is a common problem during pregnancy which can be treated properly & is not a matter of concern.
These problems mainly occur due to the changes taking place in the hormonal levels. There is a presence of underactive or overactive thyroid that leads to this cause. But if this is the case, your physician must immediately diagnose the issue & suggest the appropriate medications. Whatever other changes that occur due to the hormones that leads to hair fall during pregnancy, gets cured naturally when the body returns back to its initial stage of the pregnancy levels of the hormone & there is commencement of the normal phase of the development of hair.
Sources reveal that this problem mainly occurs due to deficiency in essential vitamins & minerals required by the body. It’s said that a higher proportion of the hair moves into the stationary phase & the follicles enter into the stage of hair loss during pregnancy. It is a general phase & it mainly occurs due to the fluctuating levels of the hormones. After the delivery, it takes some duration for the estrogen levels in the body to normalize & return to its original form.

There are various ways where such excessive hair fall can be prevented during pregnancy which are listed as follows:
1. Seek medical help from your health care expert for maintaining stability in the hormone levels & the need of the supplements required for proper regulation.
2. Massage you scalp with lukewarm oil gently to provide nourishment to the hair that helps to strengthen the follicles.
3. Incorporate fresh fruits & vegetables that help to provide all the essential nutrients to the hair & protect it from excessive loss.
4. Make less use of hair dryers & allow natural drying of the drenched hair.
5. Make use of shampoos & conditioners that contain appropriate proportion of biotin & silica.
6. Avoid ponytails, tight hair rollers that lead to pulling & stretching of the hair.
