If you’re anything like me, you’ve been counting the days until your kids are back in school. School has started back up around here and I must say, it’s nice to have peace and quiet again! I love my kids, but I’m more productive when school is in session.

However, school starting always reminds me that there are only four full months left before the end of the year. It’s time to buckle down and work smart to meet your year-end goals.

Here are 5 steps to get back in the groove…

1.Glance in the rear view mirror.
Take a look back at the first eight months of 2015. What has worked? What hasn’t? What goals from January are you lagging behind on?

2.Take a look at your finances.
Are there any major purchases you need to make soon? Could doing so before the end of the year help you on your taxes? Is there anything else you need to put in place to make the first few months of 2016 easier?

3.Assess your goals.
How are your goals now different from what they were at the beginning of 2015? Why? What is still on your list that you want to accomplish before the year ends?

4.Put a plan in place.
What can you do in the next four months to make up for areas that you’ve fallen behind on? Can you put on a telesummit to grow your list or teleseminar to feature and sell one of your programs? Can you put together a new e-book or program to launch at the start of the new year? Can you hire an additional contractor to fill in the gaps?

5.Set up systems to make it happen.
Break down your plan into actionable steps that don’t feel so daunting. Take it week by week or task by task.

You have plenty of time to accomplish big things before year-end. Get started and don’t give up until the kids get out of school for winter break! : )

Old habits die hard, as the saying goes. And one habit that most of us share—and find difficult to both notice and shake—is our tendency to run “on automatic.” Unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving are often the silent saboteurs of self mastery in our ...

For most owners of a privately held company, when the time is right they want to sell their business for the highest price possible in the quickest time possible and live happily ever after. There is nothing too complicated in that and at a basic level, that’s perfectly fine. However, a question to ask is whether the business owner wants to sell the business or is their preference to transition the business?

A transition plan that allows the business owner to sell the business for the highest price possible in the shortest amount of time to the most qualified buyer is generally the top of the wish list for most business owners. Because the business owner lives and breathes their business they become emotionally attached to their customers, employees, suppliers and other business partners as the business is a reflection of who they are.

In the initial stages of listing a business for sale, all the attention is placed on getting the business in shape so it presents as strongly as possible, sometimes doing a business valuation to arrive at the most appropriate listing price for the business and discussing the tax implications to the seller of the business. Tom West is the owner of Business Brokerage Press and he has a great saying that most sellers and buyers don’t understand until they get into the negotiations of the transaction and it is – You name the price and I’ll name the terms.
