Do you remember that burning desire you have felt before when you used to want something badly? That feeling is known as motivation and drive.
Many people fail to lose weight or build muscle, and although there are many reasons attributing to their failure, there are a few common reasons, and one particular one is always present. The reason is that they do not have a sufficiently strong motivation!
It is important to get motivated to start changing one's body. Since weight loss and muscle gains occurs in spurts, there will be times where you will be seeing minimal to no results. It is at this point in time where people usually get very discouraged, and start to slack, and not work on their exercise regime and keep to their diet to lose fat and build muscle as hard as they previously were. They forget why they even embarked on their journey to fitness in the first place.
This is exactly why you should find a motivation or reason to change your body which you deeply identify with. It should not be something like 'for health reasons'. Usually people who claim that is their reason to lose weight fail. You need to find out the ultimate, underlying reason behind why you really want to change the way your body looks. Usually the reasons for most people are, 'to attract more people of the opposite gender', 'to stop being teased by friends and become the center of attention instead'.
It is absolutely easy to lose sight of your fitness goals, and the body you want to achieve when faced with temptations. Once you have your motivation, try to instill a greater sense of self discipline if you are serious about losing weight. Also do interact more with friends who do not party every other week or drink every night, or you will face big difficulties trying to overcome temptations now.
If you never take the effort and time to first find the true reason behind why you want to gain muscle or lose fat, you will never have a motivation strong enough to change your body.
It is not an easy path when it comes to building muscle or losing fats, and it is especially exacerbated by a lack of motivation. So go search deep within yourself, and look for a motivation so strong, such that it can motivate you for several months at least.
