Flag Day and Father's Day (June 14,15) in a Fragmenting Society?

There are millions of fathers who should be honored for their role of cohesiveness in society, especially when times are tough and society's cookie seems to be crumbling.

Fathers hold things together as the meaning of husband, house-band, suggests. Millions of fathers do so, even if they aren't honored. They know in their hearts that they did what they could., and who of us haven't made mistakes? An equation is supposed to be equal on both sides, but the human equation is not not always 1 + 1 = 2; sometimes it's 3 or more!

Dr. James Dobson's title on marriage, "Love Must Be Tough" is also a great message for parents with teenagers. Tough love suggests that teenagers who do not honor father and mother should be shown the door and told that they are welcome back when they have learned to respect rightful authority of those who love them most.

This is also supported by the 5th Commandment which says "Honor your father and your mother (implying their unity) that your days may be long on the land which the Lord your God gives you." Exodus 20:12.

Israel failed to honor their forefathers and their land spewed them out as foretold by Moses. But it has take US Christians less time to dishonor our founding fathers, the Constitution (and its genius for self- government and limited government in DC), and the freedoms represented by the flag that millions have died for.

Having failed collectively to honor our Constitution and flag, we should repent. The Greek word, metanoia, means to change one's mind. Do we like what we see happening to America? A growing number do not and are protesting our elected politicians violation of their Constitutional oath.

America is divided on many issues. With half the country voting for Santa Claus, food stamps, medical care and welfare, we might wonder how long the other half will pay. The $760 billion for banker bailout could have given $3000 to all working Americans. The $17 trillion debt from printing money will enslave our children with taxes they can't possibly pay.

America has a dozen parallels to Egypt that include murdering infants or unborn. Pharaoh's not knowing Joseph is like current leaders not knowing Jefferson or the Constitution.

Many expect a civil war with a fight over guns rights (2nd Ammendment) as the UN brings us a New World Order (Novus Ordo Seclorum on our $1 bill under the pyramid—like Egypt). It sounds great, but it will mean a total loss of freedom for the masses.

Obamacare is like the camel in Muslim countries with its nose in the tent. The government wants to force its control on everyone via healthcare with a national ID card. Dr. Ben Carson who spoke at the President's Prayer Breakfast said Obamacare is the worst thing since slavery because it robs us of the ability to control our lives.

This writer visited US Senate offices with medical literature showing prescription drugs compare with heart disease as a leading cause of illness, disability and death. One senator said, "You are wasting your time; they own us," speaking of drug contributions to their re-election campaigns. Obamacare is not about health; it's about medical care with profits for drug companies and a way to control the populace.

Healthcare is what we eat, drink and do for ourselves in exercise, mental attitudes, etc. If we choose wisely, we can do without what's being pushed on us. Flag Day should mean freedom and fathers must represent what's true. "The truth shall make you free." It's time to choose a better destiny.
