The Perfect Storm for Gaining Fat - 4 Causes
Hi there its Richard Clarke here with my weekly information update, ironically as I write this a thunderstorm has just started outside!
This week I will be showing you how to avoid fat gain by avoiding creating the perfect storm for fat GAIN. Many people are unwittingly doing all the wrong things and are tuning their bodies to do exactly what they don’t want – gain body fat.
So the first of the criteria for creating the perfect environment for gaining weight, especially body fat is DEHYDRATION. Being dehydrated slows the body’s ability to burn fat. Lots of us get dehydrated because we simply don’t drink enough water or eat enough high water content fruits such as grapes, melons and kiwis. The most common cause of dehydration is drinking alcohol, coffee and fizzy drinks. All of these are diuretics and force more water from the body than is retained.
The second factor which causes fat gain, especially cellulite is PROCESSED FOODS, which are high additives and preservatives. These foreign substances are not able to pass through the body like normal food and get stored in the periphery and cause fat to accumulate in the surrounding areas.
The third factor which encourages the body to store fat is carbohydrate only meals. When we eat a carbohydrate rich meal it will likely have a high glycemic index. The glycemic index measures how fast a food is likely to raise your blood sugar. The higher the blood sugar rises, the more insulin is produced. Too much insulin in a short period of time has been proven to be responsible for excess fat in the stomach and the “love handle” area. So the moral of the story is don’t eat carbohydrate only meals!
The fourth factor which interacts to encourage weight gain in people is eating two meals per day or going longer than 3-4 hours between meals on a regular basis. This causes two things to go wrong, firstly when you eat a meal after a long break since the last meal your body stores more of that meal as fat. The second thing which goes wrong is a natural protective mechanism, that as your body does not know where its next meal is coming from, it goes into “starvation and storage” mode, and your body stores lots of body fat (in the caveman days this was good, it saved lives but not for modern man, its killing us!)
