The following are some scientifically proven fat loss facts you should consider if you want a flat stomach and six pack abs. Low calorie diets simply do not work mostly because they have a detrimental effect on your fat burning metabolism. Your body adapts to it and if the calorie deficit is too extreme, starvation mode kicks in. Your body will then store any nutrients it has as fats instead of burning it off as energy.
With a reduced carbohydrate diet you need to be having a very strong discipline. Most people are overweight as they are not strong willed enough. This is why such types of diet have a low success rate.
Now an effective and scientifically proven 4 pronged fat loss plan is one which incorporates a unique system of eating and exercising. This plan is different from most other methods you may have tried before.
Firstly, to increase your metabolism rate, you need to eat five or six small meals a day instead of three large ones. By eating smaller portions, your belly will soon reduce in size and additionally, you will not feel hungry.
However, take note that not all foods are good. Foods to avoid are processed ones filled with considerable amounts of fat, sugar, salt and other man-made chemicals. These also include white foodstuffs such as bread, pasta and deserts. Good healthy foods to include are oatmeal, olive oil and coconut oil. Remember to drink plenty of water and severely reduce salt consumption.
Next, interval training exercises rapidly burn fats both during the exercise and for at least 48 hours afterwards. These explosive types of workouts are performed in short bursts. For example, if you are running, sprint for 20 seconds followed by 30 seconds of walking and then repeat this process. Perform this for about 15 to 20 minutes twice to thrice a week for positive results. Other successful fat busting cardiovascular exercises include swimming, biking, rowing and so on.
Building strong, lean muscle is important for your fat burning success. A pound of lean muscle can burn an extra 15 calories per day. This is one of the most important reasons to strength train while trying to lose fat - not to burn calories, but to prevent the loss of lean muscle mass. The more lean muscle tissue you have, the more efficient is your fat burning system. Remember to include a good source of protein in your diet to build or maintain muscle mass.
Last of all, you should also perform abdominal exercises. Although some fitness experts claim there is no need for abdominal exercises for six pack abs, I strongly believe it will speed up the rate of you getting visible abs. The better ones are crunches, leg raises, squats and so on. For successful and sustainable results, aim to work your abs 3 times per week!
