Your first wedding anniversary is very special! In fact you will probably anticipate it with as much excitement as you did one year before. So as it is your first anniversary you will want to give each other presents that are meaningful & special, as well saying ‘I am so happy being married to you.’ When it comes to wedding anniversaries there are really two types of gifts - the traditional & the modern. For a traditional gift with a modern twist look to what material represents the anniversary. In this case the first anniversary is represented by paper. If you need some inspiration here are a few paper based gifts you could choose. 1.Tickets - Book tickets for the theater, a sporting event, concert or even just the cinema. If you really feel like pushing the boat out then why not plane tickets to some far flung destination? Put them somewhere where they will easily spot them such as the bedside table ready for when they wake up or in their purse or wallet. You could even pin them to the fridge with a magnet! 2.Go for a romantic picnic but eat from paper plates & drink champagne from paper cups! 3.Put together a newsletter or mini mag of your first year together. Include photographs & stories about the things that you have done together over the past 12 months. Include the high points & the low points as well. If you don’t fancy a paper based version then why not create a website complete with photo galleries, music & videos. Password protect it & then include the use ame & password in their card. 4.Have a romantic evening in on your first wedding anniversary & spend the evening looking through your wedding photos, scrapbook & other keepsakes from your wedding day. 5.Give them a gift voucher for their favorite shop or service, such as the beauty salon or golf club. 6.If they have a favorite author why not look around for a first edition of one of their works. Check out EBay, online book sellers or a local bookstore. 7.Order up a 12 month subscription to their favorite magazine or publication. 8.Get a picture of the two of you printed & framed. 9.Put together a ‘couple’s journal’ which you can both write in each day with messages of love & wishes. Keep it near to your bed or on your coffee table so that you can read through it whenever you feel like it.
