I’ve been watching the Olympics and I cant help but be in awe of the athletes. Their commitment, drive, focus and determination is so inspiring to me. The pride that I feel for them, you would think I knew them personally. I am thinking I’m not alone, most of America is feeling proud of our athletes.
While we are basking in the good feelings of what commitment and talent can accomplish lets not forget that we all have talents as well. Maybe its not in athletics and we don’t compete with the world but that doesn’t make our gifts and accomplishments any less important.
One thing that I think is important to remember is that, even though these athletes probably made sacrifices in their life and dealt with self doubt and even though they may have gotten injured or didn’t always win…
.
They did not give up and they didn’t let go of their dream.
This is the one thing that sets an Olympian apart from some of us.
I often hear people say that they want something ~ to be healthier and lose weight ~to start their own business or follow an artistic passion. Many people are wishing that things were different in their lives. As hard as they try, even if a commitment was made its not long before the fear and self doubt pops up and the dream is dead.
So why does this happen and what can you do about this?
The first thing is to be very clear about what you want. If you can’t see it. If you can’t imagine yourself being successful in your desire, then you need to address the negative thoughts that stand in your way. EFT (emotional freedom technique) is a great tool to use for this very process.
This technique can help uncover the hidden thoughts that sabotage you. It can help change the habits and negative thinking that stand in the way of your dreams. Stop letting past the past and unconscious thoughts control you. Let EFT help you get your power back.
If you have a passion and a desire for something, there is no reason you cannot be and feel the same sense of accomplishment that an Olympian might. Maybe the whole world wont know about it and your face wont be on the box of Wheaties but true fulfillment is a personal thing anyway.
