Polish pottery is made from white clay, which can only be found in the Polish region of Boleslawiec. The ceramic is fired in coal and gas ovens at temperatures above 2200 degrees Fahrenheit with a lead and cadmium-free glaze. Polish pottery is known for its versatility as it can be safely used in the dishwasher, microwave, freezer, and oven. Polish ceramics are also resistant to abrasives, which makes them durable and resistant to scratching or peeling. It is this combination of function and beauty that makes Polish pottery so attractive.
Today, polish pottery is made and kept by skilled artisans who can create both traditional and modern patterns. These designs include signature samples created by highly skilled craftsmen. These "one of a kind" or "one of a kind" pieces are more complex and bear the artist's name. Also, these pieces are rare and very collectible. As each piece is handmade, there may be slight variations in color and pattern.
Some of the most famous of these unique designs were commissioned by the famous Prussian King Frederick the Great in the 18th century. In the small village of Boleslawiec in Poland, qualified artists still manufacture and paint each ceramic piece individually using hand-stamping and freehand design.
Polish pottery is freezer, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe in most circumstances. While these pieces are extremely durable, they are ceramic so caution should be exercised.
Polish Pottery distributes heat evenly for perfect baking and is non-sticky for easy cleaning, making it easy to care for. However, avoid strong temperature fluctuations from hot to cold or from cold to hot, as the ceramic needs time to adapt to changing temperatures. Do not apply direct heat to the stoneware.
It is recommended to bring frozen pieces to room temperature before placing them in the oven and to let hot pieces to cool before storing in the refrigerator. Following these guidelines will ensure that you will enjoy your beautiful stoneware for many years to come.Article author
