There are many emotions that come along with seeking out eating disorder help. You may be feeling happiness, relief and pride. However, you may also experience feelings of fear and uneasiness. You may be at the point in your life where you realize that you need help to improve your relationship with food. The journey up to this moment may have been difficult and at times brought you to very low points in your life. The great news is that your journey will continue, but it can take an upswing motion. You have the ability to change your life today!

It is a wonderful to realize that you need eating disorder help. You may be filled with hope and happiness that you can heal. At the same time, you may have a worry about what is to come. This is a big life change for you. You may have people telling you that change is a good thing. In this case, it is a good thing. You will begin to really live your life for the first time in a long time. You must also remember that any change is scary whether it is a positive or negative change. Just remember that you are not alone in this journey towards weight loss.

One emotion that you may be facing is fear. You have lived your life keeping the amount of food you consume a secret from others. You have lived a life filled with shame and sadness over your weight and eating habits. To think about being happy and having a different relationship with food is scary because you may not even remember the last time you felt that way. There is fear that the things you have avoided because of your weight will no longer be unavoidable. You fear the unknown. This is a very normal feeling when starting eating disorder help.

You may also feel an uneasiness over the process of eating disorder help. When you seek help you may need to see a therapist, start a non-diet approach to weight loss, and begin behavioral interventions. On top of that, you will have to develop positive self-statements. These can all bring on a sense of uneasiness. You may worry about talking with a therapist and realize that you might have to open some wounds in order to heal properly. You may not use positive self-statements. Doing this for the first time may seem very strange. The process of receiving eating disorder help can bring you healing and help you develop a healthy relationship with food. Be open-minded about the possibilities that it can bring into your life.

One thing that you can do to ease yourself into the journey towards emotional freedom from food is to find support. Having a support system is very important when you get eating disorder help. There are many types of support systems to choose from. You can find family and friends that you depend on to be there when you are going through a rough patch. You can also find a local support group. This is a place where others who are struggling with the same issues as you join to form a cohesive group. The great thing about these groups is that there is an unspoken sense of understanding. They have been where you are.

I applaud you for considering eating disorder help. You won't regret taking this important step.
