What remarkable power did the man, Walt Disney, have, possess, use, move and flow with, that gave him such vision, such striving to achieve excellence at all costs? He was a man who never let reality get in the way.

I believe you can find that power in the term HoloMagic.

If you're a regular reader, you know that I just came back from Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. And you know how impressed I was, with everything running perfectly, functioning in perfect order. It's a world that is perfect. A giant dream, dream after dream, playing to the imagination—indeed, Disney invented the term and the practice of “imagineering”.

Well, did you know that Walt Disney had troubles? He had all kinds of economic troubles. He had some legal troubles, too, and he had creative issues that were out of this world. You can't imagine the world he lived in. His life, that is to say, was not just a dream.

But he was a man who never let reality get in the way. When the money was coming in, he already had it committed to the next vision, to the next step that he was creating. All the money that came in went to the next project, to keep his company growing, his dreams growing. He was hunting his vision.

He was a man who never let reality get in the way, a man who strived toward excellence so much that he won 59 Academy Award nominations and 26 Oscars, including a record four in one year! The guy and his company have done some major productions.

But it wasn't just the movies. These whole parks are the movies made real, the movies materialized. All this is the vision of a man, one man who continued to strive and dream.

Continued! The word is persistence. Therein is HoloMagic—the big vision, denying anything that would doubt, call into question, that would negate the carrying forward of the dream that chu
ed in Walt Disney's heart.

I wish the same for you.

I was watching my six and nine year old daughters playing the other morning when suddenly there was a barrage of I Hate You and I Don't Like You Anymore statements flying about the room. Of course, it was just a moment of disagreement in child play, but the thoughts and feelings were real enough to them at that moment.
