Health vs. the Health Care Crisis

We’ve all heard a great deal about the health care crisis over the past few years. However, no one seems to be talking about the real cause – our poor health and the lifestyle choices that force us into emergency rooms so that they are overwhelmed.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics (Reuters, 1/9/2009), 34% of Americans are obese and 32.7% are overweight. Combined with the fact that heart disease and cancer have been linked to poor eating habits and high stress levels, Americans are likely to have increasing needs for emergency-level health care and overpriced medications in the future.

What options do we have when making health, wellness and lifestyle choices that could keep us out of hospitals and save us from increasingly expensive prescriptions? There is now a solution for finding quality alte
atives to traditional Western medicine. The national Holistic Chamber of Commerce (http://HolisticChambersUSA.com) represents health and wellness professionals that save their customers by offering alte
atives to the status quo of America’s health care system.

Could fixing the health care crisis be as simple as eating more healthy foods, exercising more and reducing our stress?

If so, how do we make these changes? “Lifestyle changes can be hard,” according to Dr. Peter Rudd of the Stanford University School of Medicine (LA Times, Health Section, 2/8/2010). In Alan Deutschman’s Change or Die, we are reminded of just how difficult it is to make these changes. After all, we’ve all seen the image of the smoker who has had a tracheotomy and is still smoking.

We need help… and not just in the emergency room. We need guidance and support to make and maintain better eating, exercise and lifestyle choices.

Every day, I hear stories from those who have successfully made and maintained significant health changes. In checking references for members of the national Holistic Chamber of Commerce, I talk to many who have sought and found the help they needed… before it was too late.

“I came to [Cecilia Alvarado of Innerhealth Care] very sick. I was almost 300 lbs. Within 9 months of seeing her, I lost 83 lbs.” says Malia T. of Riverside, Califo
ia, for example.

People like Malia T. are avoiding the health care crisis by taking care of their health. They are improving their health on a daily basis by working with Certified Colon Hydrotherapists, Nutrition Counselors, Hypnotherapists and Life/Health Coaches to find new solutions to ongoing health and lifestyle challenges. Some are considering traditionally Eastern approaches to health and wellness, such as Acupuncture and Reflexology.

Many of these alte
ative healing modalities are even being accepted by mainstream hospitals and medical schools. The Wall Street Jou
al has covered Deepak Chopra and Dr. Andrew Weil. The Mayo Clinic has evaluated a variety of ‘complementary and alte
ative’ medicine choices.

When trying something new, how do you find competent and high quality service providers? Just ‘Googling’ may bring up plenty of options, but how do you evaluate the differences between them in order to find true quality?

The national Holistic Chamber of Commerce exists to help you find quality and competent providers of holistic health-related services and products. All of our members submit references which are reviewed, ensuring that they have successfully provided solutions for clients and customers. These professionals are committed to a higher level of integrity in helping you avoid health problems. By changing your habits before you reach the crisis level.
