As the new school year starts, it is also time to start thinking of the various minor ailments which are associated with this time, some helpful blends to have on hand are:
As children and students return to school, a number of annoying conditions start to appear, that can be easily taken care of with the use of aromatic formulations.
The most common amongst these conditions are:
Warts and Athletes Foot:
Although warts are due to viruses and athletes foot is due to a fungus, the following blend always gives good results for both of them.
Essential Oils:
Tea tree Melaleuca alte
ifolia 5 dropsr
Lemon Citrus limonum 3 dropsr
True Lavender Lavandula angustifolia 2 dropsr
Jojoba base oil 10mlrnRECOMMENDED BLENDING PROCEDURE
Take a 10-ml amber or cobalt blue glassbottle, and place in it the essential oils in the order in which they are listed. Replace the lid and roll the bottle between your palms for about 30 seconds, and then add the jojoba base oil. Once again replace the lid and roll between your palms.
You can use this blend in the bath. For your bath add 10 drops of the above blends to your bath water.
For your diffuser you may just add the 6 drops of essential oil
For warts use 5 drops of the blend on the affected area twice daily, and conver with a band aid to avoid evaporation.
For a stubborn case of athletes foot, in a child over the age of 12, you may place 2 drops of the undiluted essential oil blend on the skin lesion, twice a day, and leave uncovered.
Head Lice
Head lice infestations generally occur at the beginning of the school year, head lice seem to have an affinity for clean hair, and this blend works very well and has no toxic side effects compared with proprietary lotions.
Essential Oils:
Tea tree Melaleuca alte
ifolia 2 dropsr
Lavender Lavandula angustifolia 3 dropsr
Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis 1 dropr
Jojoba base lotion 12mlrnRECOMMENDED BLENDING PROCEDURE

TREATMENT
Pour one half of the blend on your child’s hair cover your childs hair with a towel and rub in thoroughly, leave on for 2-3 hours, rinse, and comb through with a lice comb. Repeat the following day.
You can also use this blend prior to shampooing the hair.
It is wise to treat the whole family as lice love clean hair and leave their nits on other heads very easily.
Once you have cleared the Lice and nits, repeat the treatment after one week to ensure no further infestation has occurred.

Before retiring at night use three drops of the blend in a bowl of hot water for hot steam inhalations, and massage 2 drops of the blend on the soles of the child’s feet.
Repeat the procedure in the morning, in persistent colds repeat the blend and use for a further two days only.
