My teacher, Dr. Ihaleakalá Hew Len, says we come with the whole thing. Do you know what he means by this? He means when you were born you came full of memories from previous lifetimes and those memories begin replaying the minute you are born.

Let me ask you a question, when you go to the movies, is the movie on the screen or coming from the projector? People and situations are like screens. We try to convince the screen we are right. We want the screen to change, but we can't change what is on the screen. If we want things to change on our screen, we need to change. The movie is in us. We are the projector.

Our memories show up to give us opportunity to take 100% responsibility and let go. When we let go we give Divinity permission to erase memories for us, so we can set ourselves free. In fact, what we call problems are really opportunities. Life is about opportunities to grow and find out who we are, why we are here, and what we came to do. We come to make amends and correct our errors. That is exactly what Ho'oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian art of problem solving does. We make amends by taking 100% responsibility and saying, "I am sorry. Please forgive me for whatever is in me that has created or attracted this."

You know how we are all trying to figure out our purpose in life? I have news for you. Our purpose is to clean and let go of anything that is not us. We are not the memories. We are beyond them, but we are responsible for cleaning up our own stuff. As Shakespeare said: This is a big stage, and we are all great actors!

I imagine you are trying to figure this out, but there is nothing here you need to know or understand. Think about it. While you are on your computer working with a program, do you have any idea how many other programs are running in the background? Still, you do not need to know or understand everything that's going on to use your computer. All you need to know is that there are programs and they are running. You might not understand why or where things are coming from, or how they show up, and you don't need to know. Your only job is to let go.

When something comes up between you and another person, what happens is not about you or the other person. It is just memories. Remember, when you see the other person or the problem, you are not truly seeing them. You see only the memories of that person or that problem. We see things through smoke screens so we are not seeing clearly. Everything is tainted by our memories, our judgments, our beliefs, what we think is right, or how we think things should be. Our job is to let go and erase. When we do this, whatever gets erased from us gets erased from the other person and circumstance. Then we begin to see change, but it's not them changing, it's us changing.

As you let go of the memories of others, you will see them and experience them differently. So, the next time something comes up in your life, be sure to see it as a blessing, an opportunity to let go, make amends, and to set yourself free. You might think you are free, but you are a slave to memories, your programming that tells you what is good and what is bad, what is correct and what incorrect. The intellect puts labels on everything, but there is no right or wrong. The mind thinks it knows, but it knows nothing. The intellect's job is to choose, let go or engage, let go or let God. To be or not to be, that is the question.
