By adopting the right understanding, we can maintain happiness even when we constantly find ourselves in a situation that does not entail us being happy.
On the Akram path, the basic understanding begins by discovering who I really am and who really is the doer in this world. Once this knowledge has been attained, then you will realise why this is happening, and also how to remain unaffected y whatever happens. This will help you be happy as you learn how to maintain inner peace and resolve every situation at hand with equanimity.
Discovering our real Selfr
Why do you believe to be the one who is suffering?
Because you think yourself to be the owner of the body and name, that is why you suffer.
We are really a pure Soul. The Soul does not experience any kind of pain or misery. The Soul is a source of happiness (bliss). Pain and misery can never affect it. The one who enjoys happiness is the one that suffers pain. And this is not you. You are the pure Soul.
The one with the false belief suffers. And because we believe this, that is why we suffer. But after we attai
Self-realisation from a fully enlightened being, we come into our real form, the Soul.
After the Self-realisation ceremony, you are able to remain separate from the body and name as the right understanding sets in that ‘I am a pure Soul’. The happiness and unhappiness belong to the name and body and not me. This awareness prevails in every circumstance and with everyone.
Then, you learn to resolve every single situation without getting attached or experiencing abhorrence for it. You see the pure Soul in every living being and hold no one accountable for your suffering or hurt they may cause you.
You understand all the unhappiness that comes into your life is a result of your own causes (karma) from your past life and no one is to blame. Also, you understand that no one is an independent doer. The results which you have to suffer or undergo are in the hands of Nature, and it is because of our own past karma.
Also we can bring happiness into our life by making some simple changes:
Do not hurt anyone. God resides in every living being and if you hurt anyone, even in the slightest degree, you violate your human moral duty. Moreover, the fruit of hurting others results in pain and your desires will not be fulfilled.
Help others. If you help others, you have held up the moral duty of human life. This will bring you what you desire. A person whose intentions are to serve others will be rewarded with happiness, and the one who has intentions to hurt will be punished with unhappiness. Nature's law is such that if you give the fruits of your own efforts to others, Nature will take care of you. That is the hidden science of happiness.
Maintain a pure intent. More important than a person's exte
al actions of obliging others are their internal intentions to not hurt or to help others. All you have to do is make sure that you have the constant internal intent to never hurt anyone and always help others. By harnessing these intentions happiness is guaranteed. Nature stipulates that when one stops thinking about themself and lives for the welfare of mankind, happiness follows!
To conclude:
Self-realisation is the ultimate solution to maintaining happiness regardless of any situation. Through the knowledge of the Self, bliss flows naturally and there is constant inner peace. And continue to hold the intent to oblige all living beings.
