If you are unhappy with the looks of your skin, there are options that are available that can assist you to gain a more youthful look or to correct those issues that may be causing you alarm. One of the treatments that is available is IPL, or intense pulsed light.
IPL is a type of therapy that offers skin rejuvenation. When you have these type of treatments done by a professional, you may be able to see results in a short amount of time. If you continue to have those treatments over the course of time, it will result in an improvement in the tone and appearance of your skin that is really going to be noticed in the mirror. Here are some of the specific problems that may be addressed with this type of therapy.
Acne - This is a problem that affects millions of people in the United States alone. It is also one that has many different forms of treatment, including some prescription medications, they may carry some heavy-duty side effects. When you use IPL, it gives you the opportunity to reduce the symptoms of the acne that you are experiencing. One of the ways that it does so is by shrinking the sebaceous glands in your skin. Sebaceous glands are responsible for producing the skin oil that is typically in the high production when you have a problem with acne. It is interesting to note, a bacteria that is always present on your skin feeds on your skin oil and since you have more of it, the additional bacteria can cause inflammation and lead to the symptoms that you are experiencing. Additional reduction in your active symptoms is also possible with IPL because it can shrink the size of your pores.
Dark Patches - There are a number of problems that occur in the skin that would result in dark patches. These can be anything from freckles, which are a characteristic occurrence, to age spots (liver spots). You can use IPL to reduce those problems by lightening the skin. It is able to produce this effect because the energy from the lights that reach the surface of your skin increases the production of collagen beneath the surface of the skin. This doesn't necessarily reverse the damage that led to those problems but it can help to reduce their appearance.
Spider Veins and Rosacea - One other benefit of using IPL that you may want to consider is in reducing the appearance of spider veins. This type of therapy is often preferred to a surgical procedure for obvious reasons. IPL can help to reduce the redness and will assist in limiting the physical appearance of those spider veins. It is also able to have a similar effect on individuals with rosacea.
