If you really want to create a great relationship with your customers, you have to do things to make them trust you. No one wants to do business with someone they can't trust. To get the trust you need, it is important that you do things to push it along, such as establishing your credibility with them. Here are some simple ways to go about doing this: Don't be that pushy salesperson everyone hates: No one wants to feel like they are pushed into making a purchase and most people just won't let that happen, especially in today's economy. Yes, you will probably be gung-ho to go out and get those sales, especially in the beginning, but you will soon learn that slow and steady really does win the race. Talk to people. Get to know them and what their needs are. Be convincing, have plenty of charisma, and be smart, without being pushy. If you are being too pushy, it is going to make people less inclined to want to do business with you, because you will seem like you are only interested in making a sale, and not actually helping them. You need to differentiate, or you will not succeed: Don't bother making all of those tired and cliched statements that customers have been hearing from other businesses for years. Yes, they know you are the best, at least so you say. Yes, they know that no one is better than you, again, so you say. Don't waste time with this. Instead, get out there and prove these statements, so others will be making them about you. If you are just doing what everyone else is doing, there is nothing that is going to make you stand out from the crowd, and you are giving people no good reason to do business with you instead of with your competition. Testimonials work: Another great way to gain trust is to have testimonials from satisfied customers. This can really go a long way toward building trust, because potential customers can actually see the proof that your products or services really are as great as you say they are. Video testimonials on your web page are extremely effective. You can put testimonials all over the place...your web page, your Facebook Fan Page, and anywhere else you like. Perhaps the best two ways to gain credibility as a business is to simply deliver exactly what you promised, if not more and take full responsibility for everything that happens in your business. This will provide all the proof any potential customer needs to do new or continued business with you.
