How to Change Your Mindset to Accept and Plan for Success
by Jodi-A
Walker
Success is attainable and achievable for anyone who has the mindset to receive it. Many people have not attained success because they have not prepared for, that is because if you fail to plan you plan to fail, or they subconsciously believe that they are undeserving of success. These are the people who I want to address first. These people who believe that they are undeserving of success feel that success is accidental or comes by luck. They do not love or accept themselves and, therefore, do not believe that they should be successful. Here are some suggestions to bear in mind to change your mindset to accept success:
You should stop thinking and feeling as if you are a failure--because this is not true! You may have failed at achieving something but you are not a failure. You should separate yourself from your failures and use them as a learning experience.
Learn to accept and love yourself. How can others love and accept you, if you do not love you? In a very visual-oriented culture, many people judge themselves based on what they look like on the outside. It is best focus on inner beauty. This is because regardless of how many physical changes you might do, if you do not focus on your inner self, then you still will be dissatisfied with your physical appearance.
When you are around people who feel down about themselves, help to lift them up. If you don't then they will pull you down with them and both of you will wallow in self-pity and insecurity.
Do not focus on the mistakes you have made in the past but focus on improving on yourself so that you can have a better future. This will help to change your mindset about failures--failures are not the end of the world if you see it as lesson in improving and developing yourself.
When you have, or are in the process of changing your mindset towards success, then you are able to start preparing for your success:
Develop a life purpose based on your talent and what you intend to see improved in the world around you. When you have a vision for the future then it will be easier to achieve success in life. You cannot reach where you need to go if you don't know where you are going.
Set meaningful, realistic, and manageable goals. It is best to have a practical and systematic approach to goal setting since it will allow you to not feel overwhelmed when pursuing your goals and, therefore, you will be able to achieve success when you work towards realizing your life purpose.
Make things happen for you instead of waiting for things to happen. Successful people are pro-active. They do not wait for someone to hand them something. Successful people have the wisdom to create their own opportunities instead of waiting for them to come their way.
Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. There is no time like the present. Procrastination is not only the thief of time but it is the thief of opportunity and it can help to delay your life purpose, thereby thwarting your success.
You must be diligent while in pursuit of excellence and success. There is an adage which states that,"Footprints on the sand are not made by sitting down." If you want success you need to accept the fact that you need to use some elbow grease to make it happen. Hard work, diligence, and persistence will always effectively and systematically implement a plan.
