As a business owner, I'm sure that you would readily admit the importance of staying in contact with your customers and getting as much information from them as possible. Of course, you would not want to push that fine line and do so at their discomfort because that would end up costing you the customer in the long run. There are some ways for you to get information from your customers, however, that will benefit you and your business and help you to increase your bottom line. One of the ways that you can do so is by offering surveys to your existing customers.

One of the most important things for you to understand about surveying your customers is the fact that it can really make a difference in the amount of money that your business is making. There is an old rule that states that 80% of your business is going to come from 20% of your customers. If you have ever tracked your customers in the past, you likely know that this is very true. Although it is always a good idea for you to look for new customers and to grow your business in that way, never ignore the fact that your existing customers already have a certain level of trust in you and what you have to provide. If you use an online survey tool to find out what your customers want, you can come up with new products and services that will help to increase your business base.

It is important for you to understand how to conduct a business survey properly. One thing that you are going to need to consider is the way that you are offering the survey, as there are many different mediums that are available to do so. One thing that you could do is to offer the survey to your customers when they first purchase a product from you. This could be a one or two question survey that they fill out at the register or perhaps that your employees could ask those questions verbally, if they are willing to answer. You can also consider offering the surveys online because it is convenient and the surveys can be filled out at a convenient time for your customer. Another great way to conduct a survey is by using telephone surveys software which will help your customers the ability to easily fill out the information for a survey.

One other important thing for you to consider is the amount of information that you are trying to get out of your customers. If you keep your surveys brief and to the point, you can glean a lot of information that will be of benefit to your business. If you continue to ask one question after another, it is likely that your customers are going to get tired of filling out the survey and will abandon it. Keep them short and to the point and you will get more information in the long run.

Finally, make sure that you are analyzing the information properly. There are plenty of online survey tools which can help you to do so effectively and will allow you to get the most from the surveys that you are running.
