How to Conduct hCG Single Test

Pregnancy testing has transformed significantly in the recent times and became simpler and quick. One-Step hCG Single Test is one of the preferred pregnancy detection tests for early detection of pregnancy, as it is highly sensitive, most accurate and simple to use. One-Step hCG Single Test detects Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone secreted by the developing placenta shortly after fertilization in urine, at a sensitivity of 25 mIU/mL. When compared to other urine membrane hCG tests, it provides more than 99% accurate results. It is simple to administer, dip and read test. Specimen Collection: Urine specimen should be collected in a clean and dry container. Specimen collected at any time of a day can be used, but a ‘first morning’ specimen is preferred since it generally contains the highest concentration of hCG. Specimens can be stored for up to 48 hours at 2-8°C. Specimens with visible precipitates should be centrifuged, filtered, or allowed to settle to obtain a clear specimen. Test procedure: Allow test card and urine specimen to reach the room temperature (15-30°C) before testing. Remove the test card from the pouch and discard the small absorbent packet. Gently remove the protective plastic sheath from the flexible test strip and immerse the strip in the urine specimen vertically, with the arrows pointing towards the urine specimen for 10 to 15 seconds. Then place the test card on a non-absorbent surface and take results at 5 minutes. Interpretation of the results: For a positive result, two distinct red lines appear. One red line appears in the control region (C), and another red or pink line in the test region (T). For a negative result, one red line appears in the control region (C), but no apparent red or pink line appears in the test region (T). Control line fails to appear for an invalid result. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are more likely reasons for the failure of control line. Though missing a period and morning sickness are some of the possible signs of pregnancy, they are not reliable enough to confirm a pregnancy. Therefore, accurate and reliable One-Step hCG Single Test should be used for the earliest detection.
